½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar – firmly packed
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
1 cup butter – softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar – for rolling cookie
48 milk chocolate kisses – unwrapped
Makes about 4 dozen cookies
- Combine ½-cup sugar, brown sugar, cocoa, and butter in a large bowl. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg and mix well. Mix in flour, baking soda and salt until blended. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar to coat and place on ungreased cookie sheet approximately 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until set. Remove from oven and immediate set a candy kiss in the center of each cooking pressing down firmly. (You will see the cookie “crack” around the edges).
- Remove from cookie sheet and allow to cool on wire rack.
